I felt infused with this prairie simply by observing and quickly sketching a variety of shapes that I saw. The sun was setting, so I had to work fast. A Whippoorwhil started singing and the lightning bugs lit up. It was magical, and this is an amazing way to experience it.
It was a wonderful few minutes doing quick sketches of this fascninating bird - from the window of my car! The road was close to the edge of the lake were it was hanging out. I so appreciated the time to study and sketch it.

Despite the cold and rain, I could not resist journaling. The colors of the spring water, bluffs, and newly emerged flowers had captured my heart. Creating the colors in my journal that I was seeing around me put me into a deep contempletaive state of mind. I will never forget my special connection with this sacred space - all from the simplicity of spending time with colors.
The rain added some interesting texture to the color boxes!
